Upon making payment, if the bailiff requests your signature on a document, sign it with the term "declined" instead of your typical signature, then return the document. This action renders it inadmissible as evidence should the bailiff company contest the claim.

This action nullifies any voluntary agreement the bailiff seeks to impose when you pursue the claim for money recovery.

After the bailiff has departed, file a claim and provide a witness statement to recover the funds through the small claims court or pursue CPR 84.16 for fee recovery.
